FOCUS WEEK -SUSTAINABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

This week we have focused on thinking about how we can be be entrepreneurial whilst still upholding our values of sustainability and recycling.

This has resulted in us carrying out a full scale DT project in which we have researched, designed, crafted, evaluated and advertised a pair of trousers made from fully recycled resources.

We learned and mastered 2 different types of sewing techniques and used these to handcraft our final piece.

Have a look at the photos below to see our process!

JM Basquiat

Today we learned about the artist Basquiat. We looked at some of his most famous works and then tried to recreate them using paint. This was our cold task and we will be learning more about him and his distinctive style this week.

This week Year 4 have been learning how to write a good diary entry. We have looked at key features that need to be included in a diary and have written two paragraphs pretending to be Harry Potter on a trip to the zoo. Check them out!

The Romans

We have started our history topic on the Romans in Britain and have really enjoyed the first 2 sessions. This week we took on the roles of some Celts who had spotted a Roman legion on the next hill. We had a limited time to 'spy' on the Romans before returning to our group to explain what we saw and to produce a shared sketch that detailed their equipment and organisation.

The children did really well and left the session with a solid understanding that the equipment and structure of this professional army allowed them to be very successful during invasions.
