Below you will find information for what we will be learning in class this term.
English
In writing we are focusing on character descriptions, narratives and poetry. We will be reading the following text as our class readers: The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, The Smartest Giant in Town. Or writing work will focus on these texts. We will be reading the following poem in class: Twas the night before Christmas.
Our key writing focus for this term will be: full stops, capital letters, sentence structure, adjectives and plurals.
Phonics
This term we will be continuing to work on Level 4 sounds and start to look at blue books. Some children will begin to bring blue books home as their home reader to further embed these sounds. Please continue to help your child with their home reading.
Maths
We will continue working with resources in class to help us with our understanding of number. We will also be applying our maths knowledge to solve problems.
Our key maths focus areas for this term are: Addition and Subtraction within 10, Shape and Place Value to 20.
Wider curriculum
Geography: This term our main topic focus is our local area. We will be conducting a study of Pudsey, using maps and identifying human and physical features.
Science: We will begin the term by looking at using different enquiry skills in a range of investigations linked to materials. Later in the term we will be looking at seasonal changes as Autumn becomes Winter.
RE: We will be thinking about special occasions and how people celebrate special these occasions in different ways.
PSHE: Our focus for this term is citizenship
PE: This term we will be working on our fundamental skills with the ACEs coach. We will have PE on a Tuesday and Friday this term.
ICT: We will continue learning how to stay safe online and begin to look at ways to use media to create art, focusing on digitial painting.
Knowledge Organisers should be used to support your child throughout the topic being covered. They provide dates, key vocabulary, key facts and important information that will be covered. Children will use these both in school and at home to supplement their learning, allowing us to work collaboratively together.
Knowledge Organisers are designed to help with our current home learning packs, they provide additional support and direction for families whilst learning at home.
