Science Super Learning Day 2019

Today the whole school took part in Science Super Learning Day. In KS1, our challenge was to dress an explorer who is travelling to Antartica. We first investigated different types of gloves, we identified the materials they are made from and their properties before conducting an experiment with ice to see which is the warmest material and which is the coldest. We then designed a jacket for our explorer, first discussing what properties the jacket should have and testing different materials to see which are waterproof and which aren't waterproof. Each class made a jacket out of a different material (paper, tin foil, plastic and cotton) which KS1 teachers then wore and the children tested by squirting water. It was a wet and fun day had by all.
