Year 1- Florence Nightingale 

 

Year 1 have been learning about Florence Nightingale. They have looked at different historical artefacts and thought about what they can teach us about the past. Children really enjoyed thinking about what each object could have been used for and discussing ideas with friends.

Year 2 - The Great Fire of London

 

Year 2 have been using their investigative minds to lead their learning about the Great Fire of London this Spring term. They have used a variety of sources such as old newspapers, paintings, artefacts and even Samuel Pepys' diary to discover how and where the fire started, how it spread and how people survived. Pupils have been learning about different time periods of History.

Year 3 have been studying The Egyptians and learning about their way of life. Year 4 have been learning about Roman Britain, how they were so succesful in invading Britain and the legacy they left behind. Year 5 have been studying the Ancient Maya Civilisation, focussing on society and how we know about their existance. Year 6 have been studying Ancient Greece, democracy, the gods and conflict between Athen and Sparta.

Year 4 have been finding out about Roman Britain. They have been leading their own enquiries about why the Roman army was so successful and what the main reasons were for the The Romans invading.

Year 5 have been learning how and why the Maya Civilisation grew to be so powerful. They also used their enquiry skills to understand why The Maya believed in human and animal sacrifices.
