Drop everything and read story this week: Stickman Every day we spend time together sharing a story. This week our story is Stickman by Julia Donaldson. We hope you enjoy listening to the story. You could also mute the volume and encourage your child to tell the story with you, once your child is familiar with the characters and events in the story.

Rhyme Time

We sing a nursery rhyme every day in nursery, repeating the same rhyme every day.

This week our rhyme is: Row, row, row your boat.

Rhyme Time Rhyme: Row, row, row your boat. Encourage your child to sing along with this rhyme. Pretend you and your child are in a boat facing each other, holding hands. Move backwards and forwards together as you sing the rhyme. Challenge your child to learn the rhyme and begin to sing parts of the rhyme independently.

Number Blocks songs to support knowledge and understanding in maths In nursery we regularly listen and respond to songs linked to maths concepts. Your child may be familiar with the Number Blocks songs in the link below. Listening to the songs could then inspire play linked to number values: counting toys, looking for objects which represent number values eg one cup, two handles on a pair of scissors, four wheels on a toy car, finding matching objects...
