On Friday, 14 of our children from Y4, 5 & 6 took part in an Active Travel event which was held at The Brownlee Centre. The event was run by Leeds Well Schools Partnership in conjunction with Cycle North. During the session, the children either learnt the basics of riding a bike or built on their current skills by completing a range of activities whilst riding. In addition to this, the children also carried out a nature walk whilst discussing ways in which to stay safe when out walking.

One of our Y6 Dodgeball teams was successful in their round of the Pudsey competition. The team demonstrated sheer grit and determination against a number of teams and then finished on a draw with Southroyd. The children were great examples of learning legends outside of the classroom.

Thirteen Y5 children attended a rounders event with the Pudsey Cluster run by Brad from the Rhinos.

Year 2 Skipping Schools Festival Winners!

Congratulations to our skipping team with 2 bronze, 5 silver and 2 gold medals! A huge well done to all the children involved, special mention to one individual who skipped 90 skips in 30 seconds, that’s 3 skips a second! An amazing achievement!

Year 4 Skipping School Festival

At the start of the half term we attended the long awaited Skipping Festival. Having spent weeks practicing several different skips, it was time to take on 6 other schools from Leeds at Leeds Trinity University.

The children did brilliantly and came second place overall securing 6 golds, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals!

Today we were visited by Danny and Jean who organise the Bramley Junior Park Run. In assemblies they explained what this was, how to get involved and also got the children involved by taking part in a warm up.

After school, we also set up a min park run for families to have a go at.

Thank for helping us raise the awareness of maintaining a healthy bod and mind.

Pudsey Dance Competition

On the 9th of Feb,  seven Y4 children took their Wake Up Shake Up routine on the road to a dance competition.

The children created the dance from scratch as a class and were up against 7 other schools.

The team did brilliantly to remember the steps but to most importantly show how much fun they were having!

It obviously worked as they ended up picking up 3rd place in the competition despite being much younger than many of the other acts.

Have a look at their proud faces and competition routine below!

Basketball develop and play session run by Brad from the Rhinos for the Pudsey Cluster

Our Y6 were winners of the Pudsey Cluster Football Tournament

Last night, six of our Y6 boys took part in the Pudsey Cluster Football Tournament run by Leeds Rhinos Foundation who were supported by the sports leaders from Crawshaw. The team played well during the group stages - winning one match and drawing the other 3. This put them through to the quarter finals where they won by an impressive 4-0. The semi final was tense and ended with a draw. This resulted in penalties - which they won. They then faced the final which again was a tough match resulting in another draw. The tournament was concluded by our team winning our second penalty shoot out. We could not be more proud. They were amazing and have most certainly done our school proud.

The children were fantastic. There were: 6 x 60m sprints and we won 4 of those, 6 x 200m runs and we won 3 of those, we won the javelin and then finished with an impressive win on the relay. Keep it up boys and girls!

Winners of the Y3/4 Kick Rounders run by Leeds Rhinos Foundation at Pudsey Grammar

Wow! What an evening! This team arrived at Pudsey Grammar having never played rounders and then ended up being unbeaten in the competition against 3 other local teams. They quickly learnt the rules and then applied these into game situations. The children were great team players especially with us being 3 players down, compared to the other teams.

Brownlee Foundation Triathlon at John Charles Centre for Sport

19 of our Year 5 children took on the challenge of completing their first Triathlon. They had to swim 50m, cycle 800m and run 400m.

All of the children were excellent in their sporting spirit and were successful in completing their first triathlon. Hopefully this won't be the last they participate in.

Y5/6 football competition run by Leeds Rhinos Foundation at Priesthorpe

12 members of our Y5/6 football club went to Priesthorpe to take part in a competition against other schools from the Pudsey Cluster. We had 2 teams who took part in 2 rounds of competition. Team 1 won three of their games and drew the other. During all of these games, the team didn't concede a goal.

Team 2 lost two of their games, drew one and then won one.

Both teams came second in their groups out of five teams. This is very impressive! The players worked well as a team and represented the school well.
