Starting School

When it is time for you to apply for your child to go to school, you should receive information from your local council on their specific application requirements. The following information about applications to school is taken from the Leeds City Council website:

By law children must start school from the beginning of the school term after their fifth birthday. In Leeds children normally start school at the beginning of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday.

If a child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, he or she will start primary school in September 2024. If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 you must apply for a school place between the 1 November 2023 and 15 January 2024.

Your child must be in full time education the term following their fifth birthday.  

It is important that you submit your application within these dates.

Please be aware that a place a Pudsey Primrose Hill Nursery, does not guarantee a school place at Pudsey Primrose Hill. You must apply for a school place following your local council's procedures.
