During this unit of work, children will describe the changes as humans develop to old age.
Our history topic for the Summer term is Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. The Knowledge organiser below sets out the key information that the children will be learning.
Our Class Reader for this half term is Journey to Jo'burg by Beverley Naidoo.
Our Read Aloud at Home book is Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson
Some of our writing will be based around our class reader, Journey to Jo'burg and some of our writing will be based around other topics that we are studying in class and the interests of the children. This half term we will be focusing on persuasive writing and constructing non-chronological reports.
During the this half term, our mental maths focus is to recall prime numbers up to 19 and to establish whether a number up to 100 is prime.
For the first 4 weeks of the term, we will be learning about decimals. The children will: recognise and write decimal equivalents for tenths and hundredths; divide numbers by 10 and 100 to give a decimal answer; solve measure and money problems involving fractions and decimal numbers; and convert between different units of measure.
In the last few weeks of the term the children will focus on properties of shape. They will: identify 3-D shapes from 2-d representations; distinguish between regular and irregular shapes; use the properties of rectangles to find missing lengths and draw angles and measure them in degrees.
Knowledge Organisers should be used to support your child throughout the topic being covered. They provide dates, key vocabulary, key facts and important information that will be covered. Children will use these both in school and at home to supplement their learning, allowing us to work collaboratively together.
Knowledge Organisers are designed to help with our current home learning packs, they provide additional support and direction for families whilst learning at home. They can be used as a point of reference for year group knowledge and expectations within the given topic area.
Please find below the home school learning packs for this half term. Use the knowledge organisers above to support your learning. Also find below links to other optional learning you may wish to use.
