Leeds Industrial Museum - 14.7.22

This week, Year 4 had the pleasure of attending the Leeds Industrial Museum, where we had the opportunity to learn about mill life in Victorian times for children and home life for Victorian children. We had a super day and everybody enjoyed dressing up in role and taking part in the amazing experience. 

Literacy - Oliver Twist roleplay - WB 20.6.22

This week, Y4A have been immersing themselves as characters from Oliver Twist. Below are some videos of our recreations of the 'Please sir' scene. 

Literacy - Oliver Twist hot seating - 22.6.22

In year 4, we have begun our new class reader, Oliver Twist. This book links with our current History topic of The Victorians. During this week, children have been thinking about the kind of questions they would ask Oliver and Mr Bumble, two opposite characters from the book. We then completed a hot seating tasks where several children role played as these characters and answered some of the questions the children had created. 

William Morris inspired Art - WB 13.6.22

This week we have been focussing on William Morris in Art. We were lucky enough to have a professional artist called Bea visit school and complete a workshop with us. In this workshop we focussed on William Morris inspired printing and created a whole class piece of work which is now displayed in the KS2 corridor. 

History - Why did people move to the city? 13.6.22

 

Today in year 4 we learnt about why people in Victorian times moved from rural Yorkshire to the city. We imagined ourselves as a child from a Victorian family and discussed the reasons for and against moving to the city. We then looked at some statements and ranked them into importance for the family. 

Jubilee Day 6.6.22

For Jubilee Day, Y4 completed many tasks to celebrate. They had the opportunity to create some art by drawing the Queen. They designed their own Jubilee mug and then made the mug using their design.
