Entrepreneur Focus Week 17-20 October

Entrepreneur Focus Week Challenge

To make an item of clothing which supports reducing waste.

The children in nursery began the week by discussing garments of clothing, inspired by the Julia Donaldson story 'The Smartest Giant in Town'.  They have been designing colour and shape patterns for a scarf.  This has involved discussions about favourite colours, similar colours and shapes.  The next stage involved making 'smart' choices about which recyclable materials they could use to make their designs.

The children and staff have collected packets from their lunches and treats from home. They have also practiced the skill of folding. Talking about their ideas and making scarves together has supported a focus on working as a team.

On the final day of the entrepreneur challenge week the children made a video to share an important message about recycling.  Their work is on display in the school hall (see photographs below of our learning journey and a video)!

The children found out about recycling first hand as they collected packets which could be recycled from their lunch boxes. Recycling takes place in nursery everyday using paper, milk carton and fruit waste bins. The children have got into good routines with recycling. This week has helped them to recycle in a fun way!
