Knowledge Organisers should be used to support your child throughout the topic being covered. They provide dates, key vocabulary, key facts and important information that will be covered. Children will use these both in school and at home to supplement their learning, allowing us to work collaboratively together.
Knowledge Organisers are designed to help with our current home learning packs, they provide additional support and direction for families whilst learning at home. They can be used as a point of reference for year group knowledge and expectations within the given topic area.
We have had a busy week in Y1S. Children have enjoyed our new class 'Monsters' by Russel Hoban. They have enjoyed colouring our class monster, making monster masks and making monster with the K-Nex.
In Maths we have been learning about part whole models and the children have enjoyed doing this practically.
Y1S enjoyed their session using Now Press Play. We went on a magical adventure linked to our Science topic of materials. The children helped to save the world from the evil witch who turned everything into plastic!
Children have enjoyed our work around the book Aliens Love Underpants. In provision they have been making aliens and rockets in the construction area. They have enjoyed using our space station in the role play area and they have been getting creative and designing there own underpants!
In Literacy, we have been looking at how to write a list. They all had a go at writing a shopping list to make alien biscuits which in their reading lesson they had a go at reading and following the instructions on how to decorate the biscuit. Have a look-
Children have settled in well to Year One and have enjoyed accessing provision. Whilst using provision in Year One they have a week challenge to complete 7 different challenges to make a rainbow. Each challenge has a colour and once they have completed it they can colour in that strand on the rainbow. Once they have completed their rainbow they get a sticker and 7 house points!
Children have enjoyed learning about Paddington Bear. They where set the challenge to learn how to make marmalade sandwiches for Paddington. They did so by reading and following instructions which ended with you can eat it!
